Application form for Innovative Market Place

Rework the World

Rework is a joint initiative of YES Inc, with its youth led networks in fifty-five developing countries, and the Tällberg Foundation, with its high level global network of decision makers.  The initiative brings together the best local ideas for green employment creation from around the world, with the global capital and corporations that are able to go from visions to scalable impact. The focus is on concrete results, with the aim of creating new green employment opportunities for young people by solving the most pressing environmental or social challenges worldwide. The main sponsor of the initiative is the Swedish government.

The Rework initiative builds both on the efforts of the YES Campaign, which was launched at the first global YES Summit in Alexandria, Egypt in 2002, and has included global summits in Mexico (2004), Kenya (2006) and Azerbaijan (2008), and on the history of the Tällberg Foundation, which for 30 years have gathered top leaders in discussions about more effective systems solutions to global challenges.

We have clustered the projects under 5 themes:

1.      Energy (including solar energy solutions, bio energy, efficient stoves)

2.      Water  (including waste handling, sanitation solutions, access to clean water, health)

3.      Land  (including agricultural methods, anti-logging measures, tourism initiatives)

4.      Cities  (including urban infrastructure, housing, energy efficiency)

5.      People (including training, capacity building and education, cultural initiatives, measures to reach marginalised groups)

Complementing these five themes, and cross-cutting, is the theme of Finance/supporting models.
